It’s never too early to start planning for next year’s Scarecrow Trail!
Congratulations and well done to everyone who took part in this year’s event, which was another resounding success despite a couple of unfortunate instances of vandalism. Woody disappeared, Scary Crow was distinctly less scary without his head and the residents of Dillydale worked together to restore Little Miss Princess and Little Miss Sunshine. Happily Joseph’s Coat of Many Colours was returned in time for the school’s end of term production!
It was pleasing to see such a range of scarecrows this year and to welcome several newcomers to the trail. The winners, by public vote, were
• Open Category
Peter Rabbit (Hallam Way)
• Traditional Category
Cowboys and Indians (Cock Orchard)
The winners of the lucky draw were:
James Brooks and Joanne & Jude Fletcher
The event raised the magnificent total of £695, plus an extra £109 donated by the children of Scargill School from the proceeds of their end of term production of Joseph, bringing the grand total to £804. This has been shared between
• West Hallam Animal Charities
• The West Hallam Trust
• West Hallam Wells
• West Hallam Village Hall Charity
Next year sees the 10th anniversary of the trail – hopefully we can look forward to
another memorable event.
